Complete TMG VPN deployment guide Part IV

Client Side Deployment steps: Mac OSX
Continuing in the series of creating TMG based VPN to support multiple platforms I am going to cover the steps required to configure a PPTP VPN on OSX.

To Configure the VPN perform the following steps:
  • Open System Preferences
  • Network
  • + (Bottom Left Corner to add an interface)
  • Interface : VPN
  • Type PPTP
  • Pick a Name
  • Create



  • On the left hand side select the interface you just created
  • Address: Specify the public name or IP
  • Encryption : Maximum
  • Authentication : leave as Password
  • Check Show VPN satus in the menu bar

(This give you an quick place to connect and disconnect as well as a duration indicator)


  • Click Advanced
  • On the Options tab check Send all traffic over VPN connection


  • On the DNS tab add the DNS suffix search domain : company.com



  • On the Proxies tab select auto proxy configuration : specify the URL http://proxy.company.com/wpad.dat


  • Close the advance section
  • Connect to start the VPN connection
